This book is brand new
The aim of this photobook is to showcase the beauty of wild orchids found in Cameron Highlands. In the process we hope to create public awareness on the rich biodiversity present here and the need to conserve our depleting highland forests. As many as 313 photographs of wild orchids covering more than half of the 605 species found in Cameron Highlands are featured in this book. These photographs are out of a collection of around 15,000 taken over a span of 6 years. We have also included photographs of places still untouched, to highlight what we stand to lose if deforestation continues unabated. This book has come into publication as the result of the collective efforts of residents here who are concerned about the deteriorating environment in Cameron Highlands. Under the banner of REACH, a community based nongovernmental organization and working voluntarily, orchid surveys were carried out, photographs taken, analyzed, catalogued and compiled into a book. This book is not meant to be a reference book. The text has been kept simple. Identification and verification of the orchids have been done with utmost care. Any error is much regretted. We hope you will enjoy the photographs of our 'forest gems'. The message we hope to convey is simple.
'Save Our Forests'.
